FOR THE SERIOUS DANCER

This intense training is geared to dramatically improve the student's flexibility, strength, extension, turns, and placement. this intensive will focus first and foremost on strengthening the student’s ballet technique while understanding the anatomy of the body and broadening the dancer’s vocabulary.

ACCEPTANCE BY AUDITION ONLY.

STUDENTS WHO ARE ACCEPTED MUST BE PREPARED TO DANCE 15 HOURS A WEEK FOR 4 WEEKS.

OUR PRE-PROFESSIONAL SUMMER INTENSIVE OFFERS WORLD-CLASS TRAINING IN CLASSICAL BALLET, VARIATIONS, AND WSPA REPERTORY DESIGNED TO HONE STUDENTS' SKILLS FOR SUCCESS!

SAMPLE SCHEDULES

Junior Pre-Professional 

 

Daily - Ballet Technique (2 hrs)

2xWeek - Pre-Pointe/Pointe (1hr)

2xWeek - Variation (1hr)

1xWeek - Stretch (30 mins)

1xWeek - Jumps and Turns (30 mins)

 

*Students are invited to take classes AT NO ADDITIONAL COST with Junior and Advanced Intensives if schedule allows and perform in the culmination performance on Aug. 4.

*Optional Classes:  2xWeek Jazz (1.5 hours), 2xWeek Contemporary/Improvisation (2 hours), 1xWeek Nutcracker Repertoire (1hr) 

Senior Pre-Professional

Daily - Ballet Technique (2.5 hrs - M-TH) (2hrs - Fri)

2xWeek - Pointe/Variation (1 hr) 

2xWeek - Partnering (1.5hr)

4xWeek - Stretch and Conditioning (30mins)

1xWeek - Nutcracker Repertoire (1)

1xWeek - Dialogue (1)

 

Week 4:  Classes will start at 4:30 PM as some academic schools begin on August 7.

 

*Students are invited to take classes AT NO ADDITIONAL COST with the Advanced or Elite Intensives if schedule allows and perform in the culmination performance on Aug. 4.


*Optional Classes: 2xWeek Contemporary/Improvisation (2.5 hrs), 2xWeek Jazz (1.5hrs), 2xWeek Student Choreography (1hr);

AUDITION

Audition Date:  January 14, 2023

This audition has concluded. We are still accepting Video Submissions.

Tuition:  $1,800.00 

Audition Fee:  $25.00

 

If you ARE NOT currently enrolled in WSPA’s Pre-Professional Division and would like to audition for acceptance to the Pre-Professional Summer Intensive, please register online for

“Summer Intensive Audition” and pay the audition fee of $25.00 before class.

 

Note:  All WSPA students currently enrolled in the Pre-Professional Division need to audition to show their intent to participate in the summer intensive.  Students should register in the office on the day of and get a number. Your audition fee will be waived.  

Audition Dress Code

Women: black leotard, pink tights, soft shoes, (bring pointe shoes if you have them)

Men: black tights and white t-shirt

WSPA Students: Wear uniform

Mask is optional.

VIDEO SUBMISSION AUDITION

Step 1 - Register online for Summer Intensive Audition before submitting your video. 

  • Audition Fee:  $25.00

 

Step 2 - Prepare your video (not more than 10 minutes showing your best side only) to include the following and upload to either vimeo or youtube.

  • Barre Work: plié with full port de bras, tendu, glissè, rond de jambe a terre and en l’air, adagio, grand battement.

  • Center Work:  adagio, pirouettes from 4th and 5th, simple saute combination and grand allegro, one combination pointe work for women. A classical ballet variation on pointe is optional.

 

Step 3 - Email  contact@wspadance.com  to submit your video link.

  • Use email subject  “Summer Intensive Video Audition” 

  • Include email content:  name, age, number of years of dance education, number of years of pointe work (if applicable), name of your current school and teacher(s), and a photo in first arabesque.

  • Attach your vimeo or youtube link in the email. 

  • DO NOT send your video as a file (it will not be accepted).

  • Include links to performances of classical variations (optional)
