Hadassah Perry grew up in Jurmala, Latvia where she began her studies in dance and piano. At the age of 8, Hadassah and her family moved to Nashville, Tennessee where she trained at the Franklin School of the Performing Arts. In 2014, Hadassah joined New Dialect as an apprentice and performed in works by Trisha Brown, Bryan Arias, Joy Davis, Belinda McGuire, and Alex Ketley. Hadassah moved to Israel in 2016 to study with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company where she worked with choreographers such as Rami Be’er, Noa Zuk, Oded Graf, and Martin Harriague.

 Alongside her performative career, Hadassah has been commissioned to choreograph original works that were featured in New Dialect’s Third Voice Installation, Pollen Arts Festival, Kindling Arts Festival, Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company Choreographers Lab, and Barnard University.

 

 In the Fall of 2018, after her return from Israel, Hadassah joined New Dialect as a company member. During this time, she was in the creation and performance of Banning Bouldin’s works, “Murmuration”, “Atlas Kid”, and “The Triangle”, the US premier of Roy Assaf’s work “GIRLS”, and Rosie Herrera’s work “First Fruit.”

 

 Teaching and providing environments for aspiring dancers to research and create is a passion of Hadassah’s. She is currently the Modern and Choreographic director at the Franklin School of Performing Arts. She has assisted director of New Dialect, Banning Bouldin, in her creative process for the New Dialect’s summer intensives, and was a teacher for New Dialect’s workshop in San Jose, Costa Rica in the Fall of 2019. She has also taught contemporary workshops for the Musical Theatre Major and Dance Minor Program at Belmont University. In the Summer of 2018, Hadassah taught a workshop at the Westlake School of Performing Arts alongside Kira Fargas and Spencer Grady.

 

 Hadassah is very excited to be returning back this summer to the Westlake School of Performing Arts!
